Franchisee Focus: Team Orange

Pinot & Picasso Orange

Best mates Clinton, Adam and Daniel took a leap and decided to open a Pinot & Picasso studio in a popular rural destination РOrange! We have said countless times that the P&P business models gives potential Franchisees the opportunity to operate a studio from afar, and the Pinot & Picasso Orange team is a prime example of this!

Clinton chatted with us on behalf of the team to tell us what they have loved about their experience so far as Pinot & Picasso Franchise owners!

What convinced you to join the Pinot & Picasso as a Franchisee?

“We have always been looking to start a business or invest our money in something for our future. Pinot & Picasso had some appeal because of the market access it provided as a first-time investment compared to other franchise brands. The set-up looked affordable and straightforward, and we also had some mutual friend who already invested in the brand. They highly recommended the business model during our initial decision stages.”

What was the process like becoming a P&P Franchisee?

“The process was exceptionally smooth and straightforward. Whilst having business experience meant we needed less help getting our business off the ground and running, the Pinot HQ team were always ready and able to help when we needed their industry knowledge and expertise.”

What’s been your favourite thing about Pinot & Picasso?
“Having fun, hands down the most enjoyable business we have been a part of. Not only do we enjoy ourselves, but we also sell a great service that is second to none and the bottom line is, our customers have fun too! It really is a lifestyle that Pinot & Picasso sell to their franchisees.”

What’s it been like operating a studio from a distance?
“Challenging and rewarding all at the same time. The biggest challenge has been injecting ourselves into the local community and being accepted. This also meant long drives, time away from home and away from loved ones. However, we have met some amazing on this journey and made some good friends throughout our adopted community. On top of this, we have a sound understanding of our region and can quite confidently call it a second home.”

Since becoming a Franchise Owner with P&P, what benefits have you seen in life and business?
“We have seen an increase in our work life balance for the better. We have more time to do the things we love. Besides this, going to work for Pinot does not really feel like work when staff and customers all want to be there. After a few months of hard work setting up and pounding the pavement, the benefits have really paid off and the ability to now work from home is fantastic. We can see the opportunity to expand and pivot our entire lifestyle towards solely running Pinot & Picasso.”

If there was one reason to join P&P, what would it be?
“A new lifestyle.”

Does the Pinot & Picasso lifestyle sound like a dream to you? Enquire about becoming a Franchise Owner today!

P&P Picasso Paints Frida

Here at Pinot & Picasso, we decided it’s time to take our name literally… We are launching a NEW ‘Picasso Paints’¬†series!

Picasso was committed to “pushing the boundaries of one’s craft”. Taking a lead from the man in the brand, we’re bringing the art of cubism to our sessions!¬†

What is cubism, you ask? Cubism is an early 20th-century art movement that originated in France. Picasso himself is one of the notable pioneers of the art form. Cubism is subject to an item’s most abstract form. It prides itself on having displace noses and mouths, faces all jumbled up and has a sharp nature to it.¬†

See who is the first famous figure in this series below!

INTRODUCING PICASSO PAINTS: FRIDA!

Our beloved Frida is the first to get the Picasso style makeover! Painted in the unique Picasso style of cubism, this design gives people the opportunity to show off a range of new techniques and to showcase fun new colour palettes.

Frida is the first of many famous figures to join the ‘Picasso Paints’ series, stay tuned to see who is next!

47 Studios in 24 Months!

Pinot & Picasso Franchising

Not too long ago,¬†Pinot & Picasso¬†celebrated two years since we started franchising. Now, we have opened¬†47¬†studios in just 24 months!¬†The buck doesn’t just stop there – we’re on track to reaching¬†50 studios¬†over the next couple of weeks!

The journey from our first studio to our 47th has been a whirlwind to say the least! Here’s what it looked like!

  • Our first franchise: Byron Bay

After the success of our OG studio in Penrith, we took Pinot & Picasso to one of the biggest tourist destinations in NSW – Byron Bay. The studio opened in February 2019 and it kickstarted our franchising journey. It only took a couple of months until the next franchise signed on. Our Byron Bay studio really started the domino effect here at Pinot & Picasso!

  • Going interstate

A big milestone we reached only three months into franchising was opening our first interstate studio. We headed up to the Gold Coast in sunny Queensland with our Southport territory. We now have 13 interstate studios operating in Queensland, Victoria & the ACT. Our first location in South Australia is launching next month.

  • The post-COVID boom

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, we had 13 studios up & running. By the end of 2020, we had a total of 35 locations across the country. That’s right – we had 22 franchises jump on board in the space of six months! SIX MONTHS! This level of growth has continued into 2021 with an additional 12 studios open for business.¬†

  • Sold out in Metro NSW

At the end of last year, we sold out in the metro area of NSW. This achievement has turned our attention to targeting more territories in QLD, VIC & SA. We’re also looking to dip our toes into the great states of Western Australia, Tasmania & the Northern Territory by the end of 2021.¬†

  • To 50 and beyond!

We are only THREE studios away from raising the bat for our half-century! To think this landmark will come in under three years of franchising is truly mind-blowing! We have many more exciting locations in the pipeline and cannot wait to announce them over the coming weeks.

Mental Health Benefits of Painting

The art of painting has been around as long as humans have been. More than 40,000 years ago, early humans created the first paintings in the world – on cave walls. While scientists and researchers may spend their entire lives studying these paintings, there’s no way to know for certain what compelled those humans to paint. Was it to tell stories? Or to express themselves beyond language? It could be both and neither of those reasons. What we do know for sure is that several millennia down the line, we’re still at it; we’re still painting. And modern science has found that painting is more than just a craft, it provides numerous mental health benefits as well.¬†

It boosts overall mental well-being

Painting is considered a great way to improve your well-being. It enables you to manage and regulate emotions, as well as handle psychological distress. Tons of therapists and psychiatrists even employ painting activities in their treatments. Mental health researcher Dorien Eising found that painting alleviates anxiety, depression, and stress. Persons who engage in painting experience a boost in confidence and feel more engaged and resilient.

It can be a grounding technique

Grounding Techniques are strategies that help distract a person from traumatic flashbacks, memories, and negative emotions. It lets you pull away from these challenges by refocusing on the present. This is what painting does and it is best seen in works by Asian national artists that mostly feature genre painting. They’re able to create magnificent paintings by observing the things around them, from farmers plowing through fields to abstract pieces.

That being said, paintings don’t exactly have to be still-life for you to employ a grounding technique. You can just draw on what’s happening around you and be inspired by the things you see, hear, smell, and feel. This creates space between yourself and distressing thoughts and feelings.

Pinot & Picasso Mental Health

IT HELPS IMPROVE IMAGINATION AND PROBLEM-SOLVING SKILLS

Perhaps one of the reasons why painting has always been part of human culture is that it allows the imagination to run free. Professor and art therapy researcher Girija Kaimal says that this might serve an evolutionary purpose; she posits that art helps people naviagte and anticipate future problems. Indeed, painting involves a succession of mental activities, from deciding what to paint down to choosing the right brush size and type. Ultimately, painting enhances the brain’s ability to interpret and translate the mental image you have onto the canvas.

IT CREATES COMMUNITY

Paintings spark conversations, just look at how we’re still talking about paintings on cave walls in the modern world. By joining art communities and painting programmes, you’re able to build social connections with other like-minded individuals. One such community has been formed among plant lovers through the Pinot & Picasso plant gallery sessions, where participants can all paint greenery together. Through similar programmes, people can express themselves through art, knowing that they’re understood and accepted. This eases feelings of isolation and loneliness.¬†

For something that’s done on an easel, painting does a person a whole lot of good in the grander scheme of things.¬†
