Spotlight on: Hobart

P&P Hobart

What could be more exciting than owning a business interstate?! Pinot & Picasso is now offering the exciting opportunity for potential Franchise Owners to operate a studio in one of our great capital cities!

Our spotlight is making its way down the east coast of Australia and across the Bass Strait to the historic city of Hobart! Tasmania, especially Hobart, is becoming one of the more popular states to visit amongst Aussies.

What’s so good about Hobart?

While it may be Australia’s smallest capital city, it certainly is larger than life with its love for cultural phenomenons, sensational food, and natural landscapes.

  • Art is in its nature

Hobart could be synonymous with art itself. You have the Tasmanian Museum & Art Gallery on the waterfront as well as the Salamanca Arts Centre in Salamanca Place. However, the true art hub is just outside the city in Berriedale. The Museum of Old and New Art, more iconically known as MONA, is the top attraction in Hobart. MONA is home to the most unique exhibitions seen in Australia and celebrates all art forms. There are also great restaurants in the museum that adds to the fine dining scene of Hobart.

  • Fine dining all around

In all precincts of the city, you’ll find some outstanding restaurants that celebrate different cuisines. North Hobart has a great variety of cafes and restaurants that you’ll be going back to almost every day! The great thing about Hobart being a small city is that you’re bound to find a lovely eatery in any street. There are a total of 11 restaurants within the radius of Hobart that are hatted restaurants!

  • It’s a real natural wonder

No one can miss the exquisite backdrop of Mount Wellington. The views are just as great from below as they are on top of the mountain. It’s a view you’ll never get sick of in Hobart. Whether it’s a clear summer day or the mountain is capped with snow in winter, it’s truly divine all year round. It’s also not too far to travel to some great natural wonders such as Bruny Island and the Huon Valley.

  • It’s a market city

One of the must-visit attractions of Hobart is the Salamanca Markets. There is plenty of food, craft and small business vendors that sell their amazing products every weekend. The Salamanca Market takes place every Saturday from 8:30am to 3pm. Salamanca Place is a very historic precinct of the city. It also has some incredible restaurants, galleries and stories in the sandstone buildings and arcades. There are some nice fresh produce markets across the weekends in the city and outer suburbs as well.

  • Art festivals for all seasons

Art & culture is celebrated in both summer and winter in Hobart. MONA FOMA is an annual arts & music festival held in January at MONA. It showcases unique works of art across different art forms. The winter version of this festival is Dark Mofo which runs in June. The city transforms with large scale light installations and incorporates the best of Hobart’s food with winter feasts. This nighttime festival has featured musical performers such as FKA Twigs and many local eyebrow-raising artists. Dark Mofo ain’t for the faint-hearted!
