Here at Pinot & Picasso, we decided it’s time to take our name literally… We are launching a NEW ‘Picasso Paints’ series!

Picasso was committed to “pushing the boundaries of one’s craft”. Taking a lead from the man in the brand, we’re bringing the art of cubism to our sessions! 

What is cubism, you ask? Cubism is an early 20th-century art movement that originated in France. Picasso himself is one of the notable pioneers of the art form. Cubism is subject to an item’s most abstract form. It prides itself on having displace noses and mouths, faces all jumbled up and has a sharp nature to it.

Our beloved Frida is the first to get the Picasso style makeover! Painted in the unique Picasso style of cubism, this design gives people the opportunity to show off a range of new techniques and to showcase fun new colour palettes.

47 Studios in 24 Months!

Pinot & Picasso Franchising

Not too long ago, Pinot & Picasso celebrated two years since we started franchising. Now, we have opened 47 studios in just 24 months! The buck doesn’t just stop there – we’re on track to reaching 50 studios over the next couple of weeks!

The journey from our first studio to our 47th has been a whirlwind to say the least! Here’s what it looked like!

  • Our first franchise: Byron Bay

After the success of our OG studio in Penrith, we took Pinot & Picasso to one of the biggest tourist destinations in NSW – Byron Bay. The studio opened in February 2019 and it kickstarted our franchising journey. It only took a couple of months until the next franchise signed on. Our Byron Bay studio really started the domino effect here at Pinot & Picasso!

  • Going interstate

A big milestone we reached only three months into franchising was opening our first interstate studio. We headed up to the Gold Coast in sunny Queensland with our Southport territory. We now have 13 interstate studios operating in Queensland, Victoria & the ACT. Our first location in South Australia is launching next month. 

  • The post-COVID boom

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, we had 13 studios up & running. By the end of 2020, we had a total of 35 locations across the country. That’s right – we had 22 franchises jump on board in the space of six months! SIX MONTHS! This level of growth has continued into 2021 with an additional 12 studios open for business. 

  • Sold out in Metro NSW

At the end of last year, we sold out in the metro area of NSW. This achievement has turned our attention to targeting more territories in QLD, VIC & SA. We’re also looking to dip our toes into the great states of Western Australia, Tasmania & the Northern Territory by the end of 2021. 

  • To 50 and beyond!

We are only THREE studios away from raising the bat for our half-century! To think this landmark will come in under three years of franchising is truly mind-blowing! We have many more exciting locations in the pipeline and cannot wait to announce them over the coming weeks.

Pinot & Picasso Booze Guide
Want to know what drinks you should bring to your Pinot & Picasso session? There is absolutely NO wrong answer to this! There is booze for every mood!

While everybody has different tastes but we’re here to offer some tips & ideas. Here is a bit of a guide to help you decide what you’d like to bring to your Pinot & Picasso session!

WINE

Wine not?! It’s in the name, but you don’t have to restrict yourself to a glass of Pinot, or wine in general. However, wine is our most popular drip of choice. 

Whether you’re celebrating an occasion or just enjoying a night out, sparkling wine will never look out of place at Pinot & Picasso. Pop a bottle of your favourite Champagne or other sparkling wine like Prosecco or Cava. 

For those who are newbies, we recommend easing into the world of wine with some crisp and semi-sweet whites like a Moscato, Pinot Grigio or a Sav Blanc. For those who want to dip their toe into red wine, we suggest a Pinot Noir or a Beaujolais Nouveau (fancy!)

If you are attending Pinot & Picasso in the warmer seasons, a Rosé is a perfect summer drink. It is a great wine to have for those early sessions. It also pairs well with a variety of different foods, which puts it a level above just red & white wines.

BEER

Put your male partners at ease… they CAN get on the beers at Pinot & Picasso! Often people stick to the beer they’ve been drinking for years, so here is some advice on what type of beer to drink according to the season:

In colder weather, darker and medium to full-bodied beers will be your alcohol blanket. These type of beers are often brewed with spices, herbs & fruits. Try an IPA, Old Ales, Mild Ales, or a Stout.

In the warmer seasons, light to medium-bodied beers is your go-to. You want beers that can be served cold without completely numbing your palate. Try a Pale Ale, Summer Ale, or a Lager.

Many craft breweries like to produce different beers throughout the year. Here are some recommended Aussie beers: Young Henry’s, Balter, 4 Pines, Coopers.

Ciders are also a good summer alternative for beer! Somersby, Strongbow & Rekorderlig have some great flavours to choose from.

PRE-MIXED DRINKS

If spirits are your preference, you can bring some pre-mixed drinks to our studios. Whether you like a clear spirit like Vodka or Gin or have an acquired taste for Bourbon or Whiskey – there are so many options out there for you!

This doesn’t mean bringing in a full bottle of straight rum with you to our studio. It’s gotta be pre-mixed – easier for you and our hosts. Many of the big brands like Smirnoff, Gordon’s, Jack Daniels & Jim Beam have RTD cans in 4-6 packs ready for any occasion. 

 

Ultimately, it’s entirely up to you and what you’d like to drink at our studios. We hope this guide steers you in the right direction (most likely the bottle shop!). How to Make the Ultimate Grazing Board

P&P Grazing Platter
Grazing platters are arguably the standout at any event or function. They have evolved from being a simple plate of cheese cubes, cabanossi, Jatz crackers, and carrot sticks. They are now a statement for the catering tables with delicatessen meats, fresh fruit, nut varieties & gourmet dips. 

Here are some tips on how you can impress a crowd with the ultimate grazing platter:

Be prepared

Before figuring out what snacks you’ll have, there are a few questions you have to ask yourself: how many guests will be in attendance? Is anyone allergic or intolerant to certain foods? What’s in season?

Once you have these questions answered, you can start to whirl around some ideas on what you want your platter to look like.

 

Size matters

The size of your platter ultimately determines how big & grand you can go with your grazing board. 

If you don’t have a platter, you can use a chopping board or a baking tray as an alternative. No matter what you use, you can also use baking paper on top of the surface. 

 

Utensils

The food is very important, yes, but you also don’t want to forget certain utensils are crucial to the board. Here’s a checklist of utensils you’ll need 

  • Cheese knives
  • Toothpicks
  • Napkins
  • Plates & cutlery – throwaway ones are fine! 
  • Servers

 

Cheese, please!

What is a grazing platter without cheese? Having 2-3 different types of cheeses is ideal for your board. No matter how soft or hard the cheese is, you can never go wrong with a block of cheddar or brie. 

Want to steer clear of those popular cheeses? Try a Manchego or Provolone for hard cheese fans. For those who like their soft cheese, try a Gouda or Saint Andre as an alternative. 

 

Dip it real good

Dips are great for adding colour to the board and bringing great flavours to compliment the food on your platter. Many people now make their own dips for their grazing platters like hummus or guacamole. 

If time is of the essence, buying pre-made dips is also perfectly fine. There are now so many varieties of gourmets dips available at supermarkets that it will almost become one of the hardest decisions to make. 

 

Tutti frutti

Fruit is a perfect and refreshing addition to the grazing platter. Bite-sized fruits, like grapes and berries, will always be a safe option for your platter. Dried fruit varieties are also nice additions to the platter, like dried apricot or even semi-dried tomatoes.

Fruit is seasonal, so be sure to make sure you are adding fruits that compliment the time of year you are attending P&P. 

 

Chocolate & baked goods

Be sure to cater for those with sweet tooths! The best grazing platters are full of sweet and savoury snacks. Little blocks of chocolate or chocolate varieties can never go wrong on your board.  

If you have time, adding baked goodies will bring your platter to an 11/10! People are suckers for homemade cookies, brownies, slices – the list goes on!  

 

Fill in the gaps

Once you know what you want, it’s time to add the extras. Crackers are vital to the platter – you want crackers that won’t fall apart and handle whatever you put on it. Just like cheeses, you want a selection of biscuits on the board as well. You don’t have to limit yourself to just crackers either – sliced baguettes, pita bread, crispbread, pretzels, and breadsticks are also great choices for your grazing platter. 

Adding deli meats, sliced veggies & olives can level up the savoury game of the board. Nuts like almonds, cashews and many other nut varieties can never go wrong on a grazing platter. Be sure to leave no gaps – the fuller, the better! 

 

Arrangement

There is nothing people love more than taking a snap of food, let alone grazing platters! Sometimes it’s good to pre-plan where everything will be placed on the board. Keep everything wrapped and play around with the arrangement.

Once you are happy with the arrangement, go for your life! It’s important to have fun with grazing platters and let your creativity take charge. 

 

Whether you are attending a public or private session, you can add grazing boards to your Pinot & Picasso tickets. You can also bring your own nibbles along to your session.  

 

Dress to Impress at Pinot & Picasso

We get it. It’s a tough decision to decide what to wear to your Pinot & Picasso session or function. There are many factors to consider – what you are celebrating, your location, how formal or casual it is, what other people are wearing – it can be all too much!

Here are some tips from our P&P hosts to help you dress to impress:

 

Comfort is key

There is nothing worse than regretting wearing something that you just don’t feel comfy in. Don’t be afraid to keep it simple! Jeans and a nice top will always look on-brand at the Pinot & Picasso studios. 

Always bring a jacket with you to our sessions. Even if it’s 35 degrees outside, the air con is likely to be pumping and we don’t want anyone to go cold! 

 

Leave your designer clothes for the runway

No one wants to hear someone complaining about paint on their clothes, especially designer clothes. Those articles of clothing are not fabricated for art studios. 

Best to save the designer outfits for another occasion (or the runway!)

 

Go hard on accessories

There are other ways to make your outfit go from chick to chic. Statement jewellery items will always earn a big tick – and even some compliments.  

Accessories like earrings, necklaces or headbands will never look out of fashion at our studios. It also shows us a bit of your personality!

 

Swap high heels for low riders

Since we are dealing with paint, you want to make sure you are eliminating all possible opportunities where paint can land on you. Enclosed shoes are highly recommended in the studio environment. 

While heels and sandals can jazz up your outfit, it is preferred to keep it comfy and casual with enclosed shoes like sneakers or boots. This doesn’t mean we’re going to send you away if you come in sandals or high heels – it is only a recommendation! 

 

All in all, be sure to wear clothes you don’t mind getting paint on. While you will be wearing a P&P apron, we can’t guarantee that you might get a splash of paint on yourself – it is all part of the fun.

Introducing Mumdala!

P&P Mothers Day
This year for Mother’s Day, the Pinot & Picasso team have created another combined canvas artwork to create our very own Mum-dala!

A Mandala starts at the core, and expands out to develop into something truly beautiful, much like our relationship with our mothers.

What we love most about this artwork is how it able to thrive exquisitely on its own, but becomes an even greater, complex and stunning artwork when combined! As with all of our paintings, we allow for creativity and design to run free. Participants can paint their backgrounds any colour, and the Mandala design is able to be tailored in any way wish!

Our Mumdala artwork will debut in all studios across the Mother’s Day weekend. The best thing about this combined canvas is that it can be tailored for groups of two, three and four!
