Franchisee Focus: Daniel Atkinson

Pinot & Picasso Franchise Owners

A proud owner of NINE Pinot & Picasso studios, Daniel started his journey with us a long 18 months ago. We had a chat to him about what it’s like being a part of the P&P family.

What convinced you to join the Pinot & Picasso as a Franchisee?

“I’ve had franchises previously, and we had decided that if we were ever to go into business again as Franchisees, it’d be based on the character of the people running it. When I met James and Aaron, I was quite interested in P&P. The final decision came down to the fact that we liked them as people – we thought they were pretty good dudes. That’s the honest opinion as to why we bought into Pinot & Picasso originally – based on the fact that we thought they were good and we thought being involved with them would be good for us.”

What was the process like becoming a P&P Franchisee?

“It was very simple. Based on the fact we had been through the process before with other people. We prepared ourselves for a long, drawn-out process but it wasn’t like that. It was effortless and made a lot of sense.

To be fair, we were pretty early with our first studio, but even the second deal we had done for the rest of our studios was ten times better again. They put their processes in play, and those processes have continued to get better.

I was actually away on my Bucks Party when my first studio (Terrigal) opened. The boys organised my trades for the fit-out – they were incredible.”

Since becoming a Franchise Owner with P&P, what benefits have you seen in life and business?

“When I had one studio, it gave me a lot more time to focus on other things. Once we had Terrigal up and running properly and found a good manager, I spent a lot more time with my family.

Since having the nine Pinot studios, we’ve bought ourselves a caravan because we like to get away on the weekends, which is something as a tradie that I couldn’t do. My lifestyle is a lot different. Even with the nine studios, I see a lot more of my family than I did as a tradesman.

The fact there are now over 30 studios, I feel like they’ve done it so often that the process just gets easier and easier. Plus, with so many like-minded people around owning studios, there are so many people to lean on. That’s what makes it easier for us.”

If there was one reason to join Pinot & Picasso, what would it be?

“Pinot for me, has been such a learning curve. I’ve made a lot of friends out of it. I’m a much better business person for being around all these people. I’m coming out of this being surrounded with 30 other business owners that I get to learn from every day, speak to every day if I choose to.

The founders of P&P are on another level, in my opinion, when it comes to business. It’s one of those things I’ve gone into it with a small understanding of business. Eighteen months in, I strongly believe I’m in a place where I’m becoming the entrepreneur I want to be, and I don’t think I could have done that without being around the people at Pinot & Picasso.”

Interstate Territories now available

With territory stock availability running extremely low in NSW, we’ve opened up a plethora of new and exciting franchise locations in Queensland, Victoria and South Australia.

For those of you residing in NSW, it’s not all doom and gloom. During 2020, we’ve discovered the versatility of running a business like Pinot & Picasso – opportunities galore!

We now have several Franchise Owners managing their P&P studios remotely. The digital nature fo P&P allows our Franchisees to maximise the full potential of their territory. The P&P business model is allowing our operators to choose how to live their life – instead of being consumed by it!

Available high value territories include:

  • QLD Territories – (Cairns, Toowoomba, Townsville, Mackay, Newmarket, Logan, Morningside, Fortitude Valley)
  • VIC Territories – (Bendigo, St. Kilda, Mornington, Hawthorn, Richmond, Cranbourne, South Yarra, South Melbourne, Pakenham, Frankston, Traralgon)
  • SA Territories – (Glenelg, Northwood, Brighton, Barossa Valley, Gawler)

All locations are geared for the same success (with 180,000 people and 35,000 women of our key demographic present) so we’re of the mentality that anyone, anywhere in Australia can handle the running of a studio regardless of where it sits!
