Franchising comes with plenty of myths, misconceptions and in most cases, preconceived ideas. Since becoming a franchise business in 2019, we’ve heard them all, and we’re going to answer the most common misconceptions. So, let’s dive in: 

Myth #1 – There is no money in franchising.

This is completely untrue. At Pinot & Picasso, our proven business model and innovative creative concepts allows our franchisees to make healthy weekly sales with some franchisors making back their full $100,000 investment in under 12 months. This business model is the real deal. 

Myth #2 – Franchisors take Franchisees for a ride. 

With Pinot & Picasso, there is no such thing. We believe in transparency and have no secret marketing fund. We have a set percentage-based royalty system, in which franchise owners know exactly what they’re up for week by week. This system also encourages our HQ team to work closely with franchisees for the best results. We’re all in this together. 

Myth #3 – Franchising is set and forget. 

False alarm. At Pinot & Picasso, we’re hellbent on providing support from start to finish – from site procurement to marketing to the opening night and beyond. We also work with franchisees to devise marketing strategies to be implemented in your studio year round. From there on in, we’re here for the ride. In simpler terms – the better you guys do, the better we do. It’s in our best interest to ensure all our studios are performing to the best of their capabilities. 

Myth #4 – I can’t manage a business in an industry I’m not familiar with.

That’s a really interesting point, and funnily enough, James & myself both don’t come from art backgrounds. This business was built to be able to cater to experienced business owners, novice business owners, and people coming from entirely different industries through a proven digital business model. We like to say in franchising that you’re in business for yourself, but you’re not alone. 

Myth #5 – You’re guaranteed success.

We’d love to tell you that you’re going to make a million dollars out of this business and that everything is going to be smooth sailing. The fact of the matter is that there are no guarantees in business. Everything is a risk. What you do get with franchising is the ongoing support, the know-how, and the marketing experience to ensure that you give yourself the best shot at succeeding.
