Franchisee Focus: Mitch Revs

P&P Mitch Revs

A proud co-owner of Pinot & Picasso Newcastle studio, renowned local artist, Mitch Revs, started his journey with us a long 18 months ago. We had a chat to him about what it’s like being a part of the P&P family.

What convinced you to join the Pinot & Picasso as a Franchisee?

“The idea of re-connecting people with their creative side was something that excited me. As an artist, I hear people everyday say “I wish I was creative” or “I don’t have a creative bone in my body”, “You’re so lucky” – These kinds of people make up more than 50% of Pinot & Picasso workshops, and 99% of the time they leave so happy and surprised with how well their painting turned out. It is a great way for me to educate the people of Newcastle that art is not about being best in the room, it is just about expression and having fun!”

What was the process like becoming a P&P Franchisee?

“Relatively fast & stress-free. I’m sure my experience is a lot different to others though as I joined forces with James and Aaron, therefore most of the work was done on their end.”

What’s been your favourite thing about Pinot & Picasso?
“Bringing the community together through art – and wine!

How has your studio been received by your community?
“People love our workshops. We get lots of returning customers wanting to try out all of the different paintings. It’s a challenge, it’s fun and a great vibe!”

If there was one reason to join P&P, what would it be?
“Pinot & Picasso is its own fun, creative community.¬†If you are looking for a fun, low-investment opportunity, I highly recommend Pinot & Picasso!”

Spotlight on: Adelaide

Pinot & Picasso

We’ve said it once, and we’ll say it again… The versatility¬†of running a digital business like¬†Pinot & Picasso¬†brings plenty of opportunities – like owning a studio in another state!

We’re putting the spotlight on¬†one of the more underrated cities in Australia –¬†Adelaide!¬†South Australia is a beautiful and unique¬†state itself, and for culture lovers – it’s the place to be.

We think there are plenty of reasons to consider operating a Pinot & Picasso studio in ‘RADelaide’.

1. It’s ideal for food connoisseurs¬†

For those who love dining experiences, you’ll be spoilt for choice in Adelaide! This splendid city is home to endless restaurants and eateries which is bound to have something for everyone! There are some world-renowned chefs (some seen on MasterChef Australia!) who call Adelaide home like Poh Ling Yeow, Callum Hann, and¬†Laura Sharrad. The¬†Adelaide Central Market¬†also offers some great fresh produce, baked good, cheese and coffee!¬†¬†

2. We’re not lying when we say it’s wine country!

You really can take your pick with wine regions throughout the state. With top Australian wines from iconic regions like the Barossa Valley, Clare Valley, Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale, there are some really great opportunities to do partnerships or pop-up sessions at some classy estates.

3. It’s also known as ‘Festival City’

Adelaide host some exciting festivals all year-round but it becomes a cultural wonderland in February & March. The Adelaide Festival, the Adelaide Fringe, and WOMAD, are perfect festivals for art & culture fans. Who knows Рyou might be able to get a gig at one of these festivals with your studio!

4. Get your culture fix

With the area hosting great events, there are also major art and cultural institutions right in the middle of the Adelaide CBD. You can visit the Adelaide Botanical Gardens, the Art Gallery of South Australia, the Adelaide Festival Centre and even Adelaide Zoo!

5. It encapsulates all the beauty Australia has to offer

It really is a wonderful city to visit. In coastal towns like Glenelg, Brighton, and Henley, the beaches are truly beautiful – and not crowded! It’s also doesn’t take long to drive to other naturally stunning locations like the Adelaide Hills and the¬†Barossa. You can explore some other¬†incredible places in the state¬†like the Eyre Peninsula, Flinders Ranges, Fleurieu Peninsula, Kangaroo Island and so much more!¬†

Celebrating Two Years of Franchising

P&P Franchising

It’s been a wild ride since we’ve become a franchising business two years ago. We opened our second studio in Byron Bay in February 2019 and since then, the brand¬†has gone from strength to strength. After a wonderful¬†24 months,¬†we spent some time reflecting on our biggest achievements here at¬†Pinot & Picasso.

  • Major growth in 24 months

Since opening in February 2019, we’ve sold to over 55 sold territories with 40 studios open for business. Our biggest growth came post-COVID outbreak – much to our surprise! We had a total of 12 studios operating in June 2020. This figure tripled in a six-month time frame and we finished 2020 with 36 studios trading nationwide.¬†

  • Expanding into five states

During these 24 months, we’ve locked ourselves in on becoming a national brand. We have almost sold out ALL locations in NSW. This success meant that launching interstate was less daunting knowing that we have a business model that works. We now have multiple studios in Queensland, Victoria and the ACT, with plans to open studios in South Australia and Western Australia.¬†

  • P&P goes international

The buck doesn’t just stop in Australia. Thanks to the enormous success and growth in 2020, the Pinot & Picasso brand is officially expanding into the international market. We’ve sold three territories across the Tasman already. We could not be more excited to bring the Pinot & Picasso experience to New Zealand.¬†

  • The Pinot & Picasso Art Box

The COVID-19 pandemic brought many unprecedented challenges to businesses. With studios closed due to lockdown, we decided to adapt with the times and released our very own Art Box. We utilised the Facebook Live and Zoom platforms respectively to run virtual sessions on weekends and give people some joy during a tough time. This has since expanded to the company running virtual functions across the country and even overseas.

  • The Pinot App

We updated our business of the digital landscape and developed a Pinot & Picasso App purely for our Franchise Owners. The P&P App allows our franchisee’s to seamlessly manage their studio. From bookings to revenue, the app allows our franchisee’s to work on the run.
